Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026.
This policy explains how CaptionVerse handles personal information when you use our website and messaging service. For privacy questions, contact agent@captionverse.app.
What we process
“CaptionVerse”, “we” and “us” refer to the CaptionVerse service. Information comes from what you send, your messaging provider and the results generated while processing your requests.
When you message CaptionVerse, we process your messaging address (such as a phone number or iMessage email), messages, photos and attachments, reactions, caption preferences and feedback. We also process generated captions, conversation and session records, delivery identifiers and statuses, and operational logs used to troubleshoot the service.
Why we process it
We use this information to receive and reply to messages, understand photos, generate and refine captions, remember your preferences, prevent duplicate replies, control access and diagnose failures. We also record whether a sharing link has been sent, so automatic invitations are not repeated.
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on performance of our agreement with you for processing needed to provide the caption service you request. We rely on legitimate interests in operating, securing and troubleshooting the service for access controls, delivery records and diagnostic logs, subject to your rights and interests. We may also process information where necessary to meet legal obligations. If a separate activity requires your consent, we will ask for it. Sending a message is not blanket consent for unrelated uses of your information.
Service providers
The app integrates with LoopMessage for messaging and OpenAI for AI processing, including photo analysis, conversation handling, caption generation and caption review. OpenAI processes the data it receives under its applicable service terms and retention settings.
Railway hosts the backend, and the app uses PostgreSQL and private object storage for conversation data and images. Your messaging platform also processes messages under its own terms.
Music and web research features may send relevant search queries to external services. Do not include sensitive information in requests. The project also has an optional evaluation workflow using Langfuse and AI providers. Evaluation data must be reviewed separately; the app does not automatically copy every production conversation into that workflow.
Our providers may process information outside your country, including outside the UK or European Economic Area. Their processing locations and retention depend on the services and account settings used. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your data; this policy does not promise that all processing stays in the UK or EU.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, to respond to valid legal requests or to protect the service and other people’s rights.
Storage, access and retention
Conversation state and preferences are stored in the database, and photos are stored in private object storage. Some photo-delivery features create signed links that expire after 24 hours. Anyone with such a link may be able to access the image until it expires; link expiry does not delete the stored photo.
We retain information to maintain your conversation and preferences, support the service, investigate failures and meet legal obligations. How long it is needed depends on these purposes, the type of information and any outstanding request or dispute.
Currently, messages and photos have no automatic expiry or scheduled cleanup. They can remain stored after you stop messaging us unless removed through a separate process. Deleting a chat on your device does not delete our stored records or photo objects. To request deletion, email us. There is no self-service deletion feature, and deleting database records alone does not remove stored photo objects. Provider records and backups may have separate retention periods.
Your choices and rights
You can stop messaging CaptionVerse at any time. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, or receive a portable copy. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent. Some requests may be subject to legal exceptions and identity checks.
For privacy questions and requests to access, correct or delete your data, email agent@captionverse.app. Do not rely on a chat message as proof that stored data has been deleted. If UK data protection law applies, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
This website
The landing page does not set cookies, load third-party fonts or include analytics scripts. Hosting infrastructure may process connection information when serving it. The “Text CaptionVerse” link opens your messaging app; it does not send a message until you choose to send it.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates on this page with a new date. Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we will provide additional notice through the service where practicable and seek consent where required.
